Last Night’s Meeting
Guest Speaker. Sam Sutherland (aka “Chappy Sam”) & Natalie from Eumundi State School. Sam is the first Chaplain at ESS and has been there since 2012. Her role is quite varied and is spent with young students mentoring them with regards to social/emotional issues, anxiety, mental health and friendships. She wants to help young people be able to recognise they may need help and be able to ask for assistance so they can become functional and find solutions. Chappy Sam holes a Mother’s Day Morning Tea and a Father’s Day Breakfast – these days bring a connection between the school, parents and the children. Chappy Sam also facilitates the Triple P Parenting Program which supports parents by enhancing the knowledge, skills and confidence of parents. It was discussed that Rotary build a relationship with the P&C to enable the club to assist more frequently, when required.
Fundraiser for Sandy on Sunday 4 March at Imperial Hotel raised over $6,000 – it was a fantastic day, lots of people – it really showcased what a wonderful town we have!

|Next Week’s Guest Speaker!
Guest speaker for next week’s meeting is Patsy. Patsy represented Australia in Women’s Cricket for a period about 40 years ago. She was the first person to bowl someone out at Lords in a test when women were finally allowed on the hallowed grounds. She is highly entertaining and her talk has some themes relevant to Rotary and service.
