Our Youth Exchange Students

2014 Inbound exchange Student  – I am Pauline Tiberghien and I’m French. I went last year one year in Australia  with the Rotary Youth Exchange program. I was hosted by Eumundi Rotary club. I had four different families during my year. They were all very different and very nice!
That was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
I enjoyed so many things during my year: my different travels, all the actions I did with the Rotary, the school which was very different compare to France. But also your beautiful weather, some activites like the surf which was really fun…
This opportunity  thanks to Rotary was a huge advantage for me in my life: to have knowledge of another culture, new lifestyle, live with some different host families, another language, a new openness, meet new people from the four corners of the world (with the exchanges students), to participate in classes in a Australian high school, etc. With this exchange I changed: Now, I am more open and I did acquire some maturity and freedom. This experience was a sucessful challenge.
I was one of the lucky girl to live overseas for a year.

I’d like to finish with my favourite quote about exchange:

“You will never be completely at home again,
because part of your heart will always be elsewhere.
That is the price you pay for the richness of
loving and knowing people in more than one place.”
